Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening." 1 Samuel 3:10b NIV
Hearing the voice of the Lord, is something that sounds so far off in most Christian’s minds. Can I really hear the voice of God? Is this the voice of God that I am hearing? God is always there, He always speaks, but we just need to take the time to hear Him. In the busyness and hustle and bustle of our lives, we need to be attentive to His still small voice, and stop tuning Him out.
There’s a verse in the Bible that says, “I know My sheep, and My sheep know me” (John 10:14 NIV). Just like a sheep has to get to know his shepherd’s voice, we need to learn God’s voice. Sometimes it may be audible, sometimes it may be found in His Word, sometimes it may come in a word of prophesy (which you must confirm with His Word), sometimes it may come in a Word of Wisdom or Knowledge, and sometimes you feel it in your conscience. (He’s better than Jiminy Cricket).
God searches us and knows us, He knew us even before we were born. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. We just need to take time out for Him. During Youth Camp this summer, we learned 4 important steps to hearing the voice of God:
1. Quiet yourself down!
2. Fix your eyes on Jesus
3. Tune in to spontaneity
4. Write it down!
Most people have little “prayer closets” or places they go to be alone with God. But when you do that, you need to focus on only Jesus, not what you are going to have for dinner. It is tough, and very difficult, because other fleshly things (or even things you do for church/Jesus) try to come in and distract you. We had some time alone with God, and I'm going to share some of what I 'heard' from Him, and I pray it will help or bless at least one person.
So, do not fear, for He is with us. We have the victory - walk in it - don’t walk as a defeated one. The devil is the defeated one. We all have the prize ribbon, the red ribbon - the blood of Jesus sets us free.
God is our fountain of life - who renews and restores us when we are weak or down-hearted.
Walk in the light, the light of freedom & victory. Keep your head held high. He’s leading you on to higher ground.
Never feel unworthy of the calling - of being chosen! We are God’s chosen, we need to do what He’s called us to do.
Stop allowing worldly things to take the place of the Father. He loves us more than we’ll ever know.
Spread the love of Jesus and the joy to those who are hurting! It will be heart-breaking, but intensely worth it. Love them as the Father loves us! Unconditional love breaks down all the walls of our heart!
Our tears are bottled they are precious to the Father. Compassion to the world is what’s needed. Bringing Jesus love and His heart to the lost and dying (spiritually).
Keep looking forward. Pressing on! Don’t look back and see past mistakes & sins. You will always be a precious one. He has given us His heart, a heart of hope, we need to give that hope to the world.
We are His hands and His feet, but we move in the way He moves.
PRAYER: Lord, give us Eyes to see - - - Your wonders and Your majesty; Your hurting children; where we can serve. Lord, give us ears to hear - - - Your words; the cries of the lost; & Your still small voice. Guide us and direct us with Your Holy Spirit, and teach us Your ways so we will not sin against You. Help us to love like you love. Help us to press on, and advance Your Kingdom here on earth! Thank You Lord again for that “red ribbon” of Your precious blood that You gave freely for us. Help us to not take advantage of that gift. Bless us this day and forever, in Jesus’ name, AMEN!
