** Editor's Note:Well, this is post #112 for this blog... perty cool! Thank you Lord for words of wisdom, correction, encouragement, strength & more! **
Obeying God is not such an easy task, as there are so many difficult decisions, and so many different types and kinds of temptations, and of course the enemy does not want us to be in praise or in obedience to God. Sin separates us from God, but He sent His Son Jesus to be a bridge, so that we may come into His presence. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, then we will be saved. But our salvation doesn't just stop there, we must continue living the life that God has called us to. If we seek the blessings from Him, we must also be obedient to Him. He is our Heavenly Father (which is hard to understand for those of you who may not have had a father, or had a great relationship with your father here on earth) and He expects us to obey His words, same as our parents here on earth expect us to heed and obey their words.
God has given two important commandments, the greatest commandments in the Bible. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself." (Luke 10:27) Love is the basis of our Heavenly Father, and we are to walk in love here, as the hands and feet of Him who sent us. But that's not the love of the world, the one you can fall in and out of -- it's AGAPE love. The truest and sincerest form of 'love'. It requires commitment and unconditional love. There are three main types of 'love'; Eros, Philia and Agape. Eros gives you the warm fuzzies, it's a frivolous form of love. Philia is a brotherly love, there is warmth and affection between friends. Those are not the forms of love that God is referring to in this passage in Luke.
There are also the Ten Commandments, which have been misused and treated very negatively in the world today. They are found in Exodus 20.
...to be continued!! :D
